Castle Plastics Sno-Rim Pads are specialized winter rim pads designed to prevent snow and ice buildup while keeping the horse's sole open to the air. Unlike the full Snoball Pad, which covers the entire solar surface, the Sno-Rim features a hollow, tube-like rubber bead that sits along the inside of the horseshoe.
Key Features & Benefits: Compression Mechanism: The flexible "tube" or bead compresses when the horse's foot hits the ground and expands as the foot is lifted, popping snow out before it can pack into a dangerous ice ball.
Open Sole Design: Because it only covers the rim of the hoof, it allows the sole to breathe. This is ideal for horses prone to thrush or those that do not require full sole protection during the winter.
Maintains Traction: By preventing snow "stilts," the pad ensures the shoe's surface (or added traction like studs/borium) remains in contact with the ground.
High-Quality Polyurethane: Made from a durable material that remains flexible in freezing temperatures and can often be reset for a second shoeing.
